The DG ECN on NTA Flagship Program “Good Morning Nigeria”
The Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria, Prof. Eli Jidere Bala
participated in the NTA flagship programme “Good morning Nigeria” which came live on air in the early Morning of 15th June 2020.
The DG who was in company of the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu was at the program
to examine Science and Technology in the five (5) years of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The DG spoke, among other things,
on the achievements of the Commission in the period in question. He reiterated the Commission’s Research Centers in the six (6) geo-political
zones of the Federation, which have demonstrated capacity in the discharge of the ECN mandates. He specifically emphasized the work done
at the National Center for Petroleum Research and Development (NCPRD) located in Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, which has helped in
the discovery of crude oil deposit in commercial quantities in the Gongola Trough of the Nigerian Frontier Basin.
The DG also emphasized the ease in the social and commercial life of the rural populace where the Commission has deployed
solar PV mini-grids, solar PV streetlights and solar PV powered water boreholes across the country. He also talked about the continuous update
of the National Energy Policy and the National Energy Masterplan which are roadmaps for sustainable energy development in Nigeria.
The Programme which was anchored by Kingsley Osadolor and Kierian Umeayo of the NTA also had the Director General of
Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency, Samuel Oghene Etatuvie participating via Skype from Lagos.
