DG ECN Highlights Nigeria’s Sustainable Energy Vision at Brazil Energy Summit 2025

At the 1st Energy Planning Summit in Brazil, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, proudly presented Nigeria’s flagship energy planning tool: the Nigerian Energy and Emissions Calculator 2060 (NEECAL2060). This robust model serves as the country’s primary instrument for assessing and planning its energy systems, focusing on energy demand and supply dynamics, greenhouse gas emissions, and the integration of evidence-based policies to support national development goals.

Dr. Abdullahi also shared Nigeria’s experience in energy policy formulation and implementation, showcasing key achievements such as the National Energy Policy (NEP), the National Energy Masterplan (NEMP), the Renewable Energy Masterplan (REMP), and the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policy (NEECP). These strategic frameworks underscore Nigeria’s strong commitment to a sustainable energy future and a just transition for its people.
