ECN Hosts Delegation from Citibim Nigeria Ltd on Mobile Solar Innovation
The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, today hosted Dr. Abdul-Quayyum Gbadamosi, CEO of Citibim Nigeria Ltd in a strategic meeting at the Commission's headquarters to present a renewable energy project developed with Sleekabyte Technologies UK Ltd and funded by Ze-Gen (Carbon Trust) via Innovate UK.
The Citibim team unveiled their Mobile Solar Generator and Rentable Energy Capsules; a peer-to-peer micro-grid solution providing clean, affordable power to underserved communities. The project follows a “Nigeria-first” approach, emphasizing local assembly, job creation, and component testing to boost domestic solar capacity.
The visit also explored alignment with Nigeria’s Minimum Performance Standard (MPS) framework, with plans for rigorous safety and efficiency testing. Citibim requested ECN’s support in piloting the deployment, validating performance, and enabling a national roll-out.
Dr. Abdullahi welcomed the initiative, reaffirming ECN’s support for Nigerian-led clean energy innovation and granting access to its research centres for testing. Dr. Gbadamosi expressed confidence in the solution’s scalability, highlighting its potential to power schools, clinics, SMEs, and rural homes through pay-as-you-go capsules.
This partnership represents a key step toward expanding sustainable energy access and building local capacity in line with Nigeria’s energy transition agenda.
