National Energy Summit 2022

The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) in collaboration with the International Energy Charter (IEC) Secretariat, Brussels, Belgium and ECOWAS, organised National Energy Summit 2022. In 2015, UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP21) held in Paris and in 2021 COP 26 held in Scotland, Nigeria committed herself to reducing her greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions by 20% unconditionally and 47% conditionally by 2030 as well as to net-zero emissions by 2060. This is to be achieved mainly through the greater use of our renewable energy and natural gas resources as well as energy efficiency practices. The National Energy Summit 2022 has the objective of providing a forum to advance strategies that will facilitate investment into the Nigerian energy sector for effective transition of the energy system for net-zero emissions by 2060. The theme for the 2022 edition was Green Economy and Sustainable Energy Development in Nigeria: Investment Opportunities and Challenges. It held from 5th to 6th July 2022.
